The owner of Ki's Steak and Seafood Restaurant in Glendale
Heights was warned by some so-called media experts not to
go on TV last Friday and publicly announce he was defying
Governor Pritzker's orders on indoor dining. He did it
anyway and guess what? His weekend business was 3 to 4
times more than any weekend this month. And about 75%
of the people said they came because they wanted to thank
him and support him.

There's No Such Thing as Bad Publicity
Marketing Expert Bernie DiMeo, Quoted in the Chicago Tribune re: State To Allow Outdoor Dining; City Not Ready:
Bernie DiMeo, who represents Chicago and suburban restaurants through his public relations firm, says that the governor and mayor should have been on the same page.
“What’s going on when one comes out with an announcement that we can open up outdoor spaces, and then the other one says we can’t?” asked DiMeo. “They should have talked about it together and come out with the same announcement. We are all for the safety and health of the citizens, but it’s just killing restaurants.”

Illinois Restaurants Will Start Opening Their Dining Rooms Soon But Don't Expect a Big Rush
According to a recent Zagat survey, only about a third of those surveyed said they would return as soon as the restaurants open. In fact, 20% said they may wait as long as three months. Smart restaurateurs must acknowledge their customers' concern about safety and health issues.
